Looking for a masturbation technique that gives your hand a break? Watch this first—this 12-minute demonstration shows you exactly how to do prone masturbation safely, in 4 easy steps.
It’s easy to find articles blindly condemning prone masturbation—i.e., face down masturbation, bed humping, pillow humping, and similar variations—as a dangerous form of self-pleasure. But this is not only an oversimplification, it's also flat-out wrong. Where you choose to go prone, how aggressive you are, how dry the surface is, and how much pressure you exert on your penis—these are the factors that determine whether the practice is safe or problematic.
So, instead of fear-based generalizations, the male performance coaches here at AllKnight... who’ve helped thousands of men improve erection quality, stamina, size, and control... have put together the ultimate better, safer prone masturbation video guide.
Who is this masturbation demonstration for?
This guide is for men who want the intensity of prone masturbation—without the downsides that come with doing it wrong.
Men recovering from Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome or Death Grip Syndrome, who are looking to transition into a hands-free self-pleasuring technique with better pressure control and built-in safeguards.
Any guy looking for a safer, more controlled, and still highly enjoyable form of male masturbation.

Prone Masturbation Done Correctly
Following along with the video above, here are the detailed instructions…
Step 1 – Where to Hump
Selecting the right playing field for your friction-based masturbation session is key.
How do you choose the best setting for masturbating prone, with the competitors for your attention including the floor, the sofa, the bed, and maybe even some random piece of gym equipment? The selection is, in fact, easy.
When safety is a consideration, the choice is NEVER going to be the floor. The best setting will ALWAYS be the bed, with the sofa as a distant second when a bed isn’t available.
The bed is spacious, soft, and responsive. More importantly, it allows for alternative body positioning that puts the amount of pressure fully within your control.
Don’t worry—we’ll get into pressure control shortly.
Step 2 – Get Naked. Get it wet.
Prepping the playing field for a sex-like friction experience is incredibly important, and it begins with you. Get naked.
Sure, you can dry hump your way to an orgasm, but if safe prone masturbation is the goal, you’ll skip that. Pants and underwear keep your genitals bunched, twisted, and dry. You can’t effectively lubricate yourself with your drawers on.
So now we’re nude, and we’re on the bed—both good choices. The bed is soft, which is a major plus. But we still need to create a surface that is slippery.
Friction is the foundation of sex. But it’s a wet, silky, and controlled kind of friction. For the benefit of your penis, hands-free friction-based masturbation needs to replicate that same quality.
Bed sheets don’t lubricate, and you can’t effectively lube them up because they soak everything up. To avoid rubbing yourself raw, you need to bring your own lubrication and create something better.
Pillow Humping – How to Make a Penis Slip-N-Slide
Pillows are softer than the mattress itself, so if you were thinking about humping your pillow instead of the bed directly, you were thinking in the right direction.
But pillows still absorb lube.
So we improve the setup.
What is a Masturbation Fifi (Fifi-Bag)?
The term “Fifi” was popularized in American prisons, where inmates used it to describe a DIY-style sex toy. Typically, it involved a rolled towel with a glove or similar material to create a smoother interior surface, combined with lotion for lubrication.
It was, essentially, a homemade artificial vagina—built out of necessity.
The Penis Slip-N-Slide
Taking that concept and upgrading it, we’re going to build something better.
Start with:
- a folded towel
- wrapped inside a clean plastic layer (like a trash bag)
With a bit of tape, you can seal the towel inside your plastic wrap, creating a soft, flat, non-absorbent surface.
And voila! A sex partner is born. We could name her Patty the penis slide if you like, or we can keep it anonymous and mysterious.
Call it whatever you want. The important part is this:
- It won’t soak up lube like sheets or pillowcases
- It stays slick and slippery
- It allows smooth, controlled movement
Now you’re working with something that actually resembles the feel of real sex.
Bring Your Own Lube (BYOL)
There’s no way to make your setup self-lubricate, so this is definitely a BYOL situation.
With a quality water-based lubricant, you can create a surface that is slick, responsive, and far safer for your skin.
With just these steps, you’ve already solved half the problem.
You now have a soft, lubricated surface that allows you to grind and move without causing irritation, friction burn, or unnecessary stress on the penile skin.
Your slip-n-slide setup can be placed on the bed, on a pillow, or even on a cushion—wherever you choose, it now works with you, not against you.
Step 3 – Get it hard. Keep it hard.
Control your erection quality. Bring your maximum-strength hard-on by wearing a cock ring.
Why is your erection so crucial when going prone?
The culprits that make prone masturbation sometimes go wrong are dry friction gone wild and runaway pressure from laying on your penis too long, or with too much weight.
Erection fluctuations are a major part of the problem. They often lead men to apply more pressure during face-down masturbation.
🔥 The Science of ROCK HARD!
When it comes to pro-level masturbation, you need a sizable, solid erection that lasts. You really haven’t even skimmed the surface of the experience or your own potential until you equip the right high-quality erection ring. This isn’t about enhancement just for the sake of it—it’s about control, awareness, and performance under pressure.

A – Erection fluctuations prompt men to apply more pressure
What do you do during sex if you start to go soft? You thrust harder. You push deeper. You try to grind out more sensation to bring your erection back.
That works in real sex. But in classic prone masturbation, you’re not penetrating anything—you’re lying on top of your penis.
If you start to go soft, the instinct is to flatten out, press down harder, and grind more intensely.
The problem is that real sex never involves your full bodyweight—or anything close to it—pressing down on your penis. You’re not meant to load that kind of pressure onto the underside of the organ, and when you do, it can quickly become too much.
B – The harder the erection, the easier it is to sense pressure
A rock-hard erection angles outward from the body. It’s rigid, responsive, and highly aware of contact.
The harder you are, the more sensitive and sexually charged the organ becomes. That means far less pressure is needed to generate strong sensation.
It also means you’ll immediately recognize when something feels off—whether it’s too much pressure, a bad angle, or unnecessary strain.

How can you stay harder than hard for your next self-pleasure session? Get a high quality masturbation cock ring.
C – The harder the erection, the better the experience feels
A fully engorged erection—especially one supported by a high-quality cock ring—amplifies sensation across the entire penis.
You’re not just feeling pressure and friction—you’re experiencing them at a higher resolution.
Because of that, you don’t need to rely on excessive force to feel something. The stimulation is already there.
The reason men sometimes bear down too hard during prone masturbation is simple—they’re chasing more sensation. They’re looking for that extra level of intensity.
But the right erection support changes the game completely. Instead of forcing sensation, you unlock it—allowing intense, responsive stimulation to come through naturally, without needing to overload your body with pressure.
With the right erection ring, those sensations are already there—alive, responsive, and dancing on every raised vein of your anatomy.
D – Flaccid prone masturbation is a very bad idea
There is a subset of prone bator-boys who prefer, or have learned, to grind their way to a hands-free ejaculation without being fully erect. Yes—a soft penis, subjected to enough stimulation and pressure, will eventually ejaculate.
But men—this is a critically bad idea.
Unless a man has an existing condition that prevents him from getting fully hard, he should never train his sexual responses to accept, expect, or rely on flaccidity.
This is classic anti-training. It conditions the body toward weak erection quality and carries over directly into poor performance during partner-to-partner sex, with a very real risk of erectile dysfunction over time.
Don’t train your dick to stay soft.
Train it to get hard and stay hard.
E – A quick thought on rough masturbation
Some guys like it rough. Fast, aggressive, pushing the limits—stroking hard enough to almost start a fire, chasing the sting. No judgment here. Self-love is your domain, and how you choose to experience it is up to you.
But understand this: there are risks. With the knowledge and gear we’ve covered here, lack of awareness will not be one of them. A truly intense session should come from control and intention—not from being too soft to feel what’s actually happening, or too unaware to recognize when you’re crossing into dangerous territory.
The rough bator doesn’t cross boundaries because he doesn’t know where they are—he crosses them because he wants to feel them. And while what you do is ultimately your call, understand that pushing too far can come at the cost of sensitivity and performance.
What we recommend for intensity seekers is controlled amplification: masturbating with a cock ring, incorporating ball stretching, exploring prostate stimulation, using penis pumps, or adding cock weights. These methods increase sensation, intensity, and fullness—without relying on blunt-force friction. Even better, they double as training tools for stronger erections, better stamina, size increase, and improved sexual performance.
Does Penis Size Impact Going Prone?
Before we continue to step 4, we need to answer a very important question about penis size and masturbation. The reality, men, is that penis size plays a role in just about every sexual activity—sometimes not the way you’d expect, and often exactly how you would.
Does size matter when going prone? Yes—penis size and body size both affect friction, pressure, and control. To explore how to grow, enhance, and maximize your size and performance, visit the
Penis Enlargement Hub.
With prone masturbation, where body-driven friction is the engine and too much pressure is the risk, size absolutely matters. Yes, penis size—but also body size.
Smaller Penises Vs Larger Penises Going Prone
The bigger the male organ is, the more penile surface there is to receive stimulation in humping-style masturbation. So, average endowments and up tend to have an easier time generating pleasure in friction-based grinding scenarios. Where real sex is penetrative—movement in and out—prone is all about surface contact, especially along the underside of the penis pressing against whatever you’re grinding on. Bigger equals more friction with less movement… but also a greater risk of excessive pressure on that larger organ.
Smaller endowments—those on the smaller side of average and down—have to work harder to grind out the same level of stimulation. This often leads to adjustments in positioning, like propping the surface beneath them so it’s raised or angled, making it easier to reach and maintain contact during thrusting. Classically, pillow humping is easier for smaller endowments than working against a flat mattress.
Now, in terms of safety, being less well-endowed can actually be an advantage—there’s simply less penis to be compressed under body weight. But that advantage can disappear quickly if more aggressive grinding is used to compensate. When friction doesn’t come easily, the instinct is to push harder, grind longer, and chase sensation—and that’s where smaller guys can still run into the same risks as larger ones.
What’s The Safest Prone Bone Size?
The safest size for going prone is the one that’s most erect. In other words, having a prone “bone” and not a prone “noodle” helps with the safety factor more than the mass of the organ.
OPTIMAL
A big extremely hard erection should be able to perceive pressure very well and should also be able to generate a lot of friction without so much body weight bearing down.
SOLID
A small extremely hard erection should also be able to perceive pressure very well and provides less sausage to squish. But, where friction is the name of the game, “less to squish” can become a double-edged sword. Watch out for grinding too intensely trying to create more surface friction.
HIGH RISK
A big extremely soft penis is the most at risk for anti-training and masturbatory injury. Why? Because we’ve got a lot of meat on the playing field, and it isn’t rigid enough to provide good sensory feedback about how much pressure is at play. Additionally, the fact that the penis is soft will prompt its owner to grind more intensely in search of getting it harder.
What About Body Weight and Size?
Yes, friends, the mass of your actual body matters in sexual scenarios. And, yes, more weight increases the risk of masturbatory trauma in face-down styles. The heavier you are, the more weight you are likely to lay down on your rod. Two guys—one at 170lbs and another at 240lbs—are going at it with a 70lb difference in body weight.
Now think about that for a second… laying just 70lbs alone on your penis would not be a good idea—and that’s only the difference between those two men.
As body weight increases, unless it’s purely muscle, belly size tends to increase as well. And that stomach sits right on top of the penis during prone masturbation. From a sensation standpoint, that can actually increase stimulation, your body working from above while the surface beneath you works from below. But from a pressure standpoint, it’s a different story entirely.
More body mass means more downward force. And if you don’t have full control over how that weight is distributed—especially in a face-down position—you’re increasing the risk of excessive pressure on the penis. That’s where problems can start.
The key to safer prone masturbation—at every size, whether we’re talking about your dick or your body—is control. And that’s exactly what the next and final step is all about.
Step 4 – Hump it right
Control your body position. Take the action to the Bed’s Corner.
If you are truly and unconditionally prone, i.e., laying face down on your stomach and ultimately on your penis as well, the number of options you have to control your body weight, thrusting angle, and grinding cadence will be limited. It’s worth noting that while missionary sex involves a face-down stance, the person on top is never fully flat on their stomach, but rather inclined. In actual sex, you are always elevated because there is a lover’s body between your body and the bed.
Taking the action to the bed’s corner emulates the more dynamic nature of real sex much more effectively. In this position—legs wide, somewhat bow-legged, straddling the corner of the bed—a man has far more control over body movement, angling, speed, and thrusting. And still, all he needs to do is lean forward to achieve the full pressure of face-flat prone masturbation.
It’s pretty amazing how this body positioning tactic changes the entire game. You can have full pressure or any degree of pressure. You can be fully prone, or you can be in a more upright stance, using the bed’s corner for support under your body. You can stand more or less bow-legged to control how much stimulation reaches your balls and taint. You can mix and match all of these options in any order, for any duration, based on your comfort and pleasure.
This male sexual stance—coined by the AllKnight team of performance coaches as the “Bed’s Corner”—is incredibly versatile. Fantastically useful in partner-to-partner sex, highly effective with our SexxxTrainer Sex Simulator for Men, and even with a homemade penis slip-n-slide, it stands out as an ideal position for safe, controlled, hands-free masturbation.
And there it is—going prone isn’t bad, it’s bad-ass—as long as you do it right.
The Bed’s Corner Solo Male Sex Position
Now, toward the end of this guide, it’s easy to see why we selected the bed as our masturbatory playground.
Accomplishing the Bed’s Corner stance requires you to engage the masturbation surface in a bow-legged straddle. This is easily done with most beds, but impossible on the floor—there’s nothing to straddle.
It’s usually difficult with sofas, but it might work with your penis slip-n-slide draped over the sofa arm, with you straddling the arm—likely with one foot planted on the floor and the other leg kneeling on part of the couch.
You could attempt this stance on any raised surface, provided you can access the corner of it. Desks and tables might work, and perhaps bathroom countertops at the right height—but these surfaces are much harder than a nice, bouncy mattress.
How often should a man engage in Prone Masturbation?
Classic prone needed to be handled sparingly. Not more than once a week should a man find himself laying on his penis, grinding on a dry surface. And even then, classic prone was not an ideal fit for longer edging sessions.
Our modified, safer approach to prone masturbation is much more versatile.
The surface is soft and slippery, and you can control the amount of bodyweight pressure being exerted on the penis with ease.
That opens the door to edging—and to multiple sessions per week.
With this hands-free bed humping technique, you’re now in control. Sure, you could still choose to lay forward on your penis indefinitely, but you’ll know exactly what you’re doing if you do. And in the Bed’s Corner stance, some of your weight is naturally supported, even if you choose to stay engaged for extended sessions.
For this safer prone masturbation method, we’d suggest around twice per week, with edging sessions being completely fine, and other forms of masturbation and/or actual sex filling in wherever horniness demands. And yes—even three times a week can be fine in the right context.
What’s The Worst Place for Prone Masturbation: The Floor
Why is the floor forbidden? Well, it’s not forbidden. The floor is right there. It’s everywhere you walk, and if you want to strip down and hump it, no one can stop you.
But if safety is of any concern to you, you’ll think twice.
The floor is harder than you are—no matter how many muscles you may have—and harder than your hardest erection, even if you’re wearing a Hardwear Cock Ring (and that’s saying a lot).
There’s no negotiating with the floor. You can’t angle yourself into the Bed’s Corner solo male sex position. You’re forced into classic prone, with limited control and maximum pressure.
Yes, you can improve things slightly by bringing your trusty slip-n-slide and some lube. That helps. But even with those upgrades, the floor remains the most likely place to hurt yourself—banging up your knees, stressing the nerves in your penis, or slamming your testicles numb.
We all understand being horny beyond belief—and the crazy places that our testosterone-soaked urges can take us.
But some of those places come with consequences.
And we’ve never really seen a floor with enough sex appeal to make that risk worth it.
Final Thought: What the world needs now is love — and common sense.
Love:
Reflecting on the demo video above—with safety steps in place, a heightened level of control and mastery on display, and a sexually charged experience being shared—it becomes difficult to find any reason to go back to old-fashioned prone. And honestly, a bit laughable when we hear doomsayers bashing prone masturbation as a whole.
Face down masturbation, bed humping, pillow humping—these are all safe and enjoyable when approached with just a little bit of common sense.
Common Sense:
Know this—if you choose to jerk off with your hand too aggressively, squeezing too tightly and going at it constantly without lube, you run the same risks. Anti-training, desensitization, and all the same issues men can encounter with prone masturbation.
With prone, they call it Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome. With hand-based masturbation, they call it Death Grip Syndrome.
It’s the same thing.
A condition where a man has engaged in some form of “rough” masturbation, effectively beating his penis up and lowering its sensitivity over time.
So go ahead, beat your meat all you want, how you want.
Just don’t beat the hell out of it for real.
More than just a platform for pleasure, masturbation is a maintenance tool for overall male health and a conditioning tool for sexual improvement. But while you’re exercising your sexual muscle, you also need to exercise a little bit of common sense.
It’s not the style of getting off—it’s how you implement it that makes all the difference.
Learn that, and the world is yours.
